Designing a digital home for subculture where music, nature, and community come alive online.

Client

Summer of Love Festival (S.O.L.CY)

Goal

To design a vibrant showcase website that introduces visitors to the festival’s culture, artist line-up, location ethos, and enables ticket purchases, creating a seamless journey from discovery to attendance.

Problem Statement

Off-the-grid music festivals often struggle with community reach and revenue, threatening sustainability. The client needed a compelling digital presence to expand their audience and strengthen engagement.

My Role & Process:

  • Built a site in collaboration with stakeholders and the poster designer to reflect a vivid, summery visual identity, bold industrial H1 typography for impact and playful puffy display H2 to convey warmth and energy.

  • Defined a colour palette inspired by beach-sun, salt-sea, and night-rave neon, balancing festive vibrancy with readability.

  • Developed a responsive layout that performs across devices: hero carousels, countdown sections (“24 HRS of Music – 13 Artists – 1 Stage”), rich image backdrops, and intuitive navigation (Artists → Programme → Tickets → FAQ).

  • Integrated community-oriented messaging on oneness, presence, ecology and healing (as seen on the site’s manifesto sections) to align digital experience with festival ethos.

  • Structured key user flows: discovering the vision → exploring artists → learning about the setting → booking tickets. Provided clear CTA (Buy Tickets), FAQ and contact sections for visitor confidence.

  • Ensured UX focused on atmosphere: minimal clutter, immersive visuals, limited text for impact, large typography, mobile-friendly layout, and intuitive scrolling.

Outcome: The resulting website offers more than an event page; it’s an experience. It immerses visitors into the world of Summer of Love before the event begins, communicates authenticity, builds community anticipation, and supports conversion through a clear path to purchase.
